Job Description
The General Manager will provide the necessary leadership to achieve and exceed budgeted sales and payroll forecasts, as well as manage the store’s P&L (Profit and Loss). Partnering with the Operations and Merchandising Managers (along with key staff associates), and the Home Office, the GM will manage store operations, inventory levels and visual merchandising standards, as well as all other aspects of the store. This individual will oversee the hiring of Store Associates and development of staff, to ensure all customers obtain exemplary customer service and receive a positive store experience while managing the 99¢ Only Stores brand.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Manage store performance by setting priorities, communicating performance expectations and analyzing results.
•Create weekly associate schedules to ensure proper coverage during all times.
•Lead the store team to continually improve customer experience, store operations, and financial results.
•Manage store processes to ensure that store has ample resources to operate (people, product and equipment), while maintaining a cost conscious approach.
•Partner with Merchandise Manager to (ensure in-stock levels – company standards) manage product order, inventory and display to maximize profits.
•Manage controllable expenses to meet company operating and customer service standards (P&L).
•Enforce that lunch and rest period policies are being adhered to according to State and Federal law.
•Partner with Loss Prevention and Risk Management to ensure associate and customer safety through ongoing communication, training and safety program implementation.
•Partner with Regional HR Manager as it pertains to associate hiring, appraisal, training and development processes.
•Handle government inspections as required.
Job Requirements
•2+ years in retail store management with successful track record and increasing levels of responsibility.
•2+ years successfully running 99Cent Only Stores Merchandising function at the store level or equivalent experience.
•Ability to manage day-to-day operations of the store to meet or exceed company goals and standards as measured by regular audits.
•Self starter with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and the drive to meet and exceed measurable objectives.
•Ability to develop, plan and execute a merchandising plan to increase sales.
•Proficient computer literacy skills.
•Must be able to frequently lift one to five pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
•Must be able to stand, bend and reach with a moderate amount of manual dexterity.
