Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:An effective LPDM is responsible for the protection of all company assets and achieving shortage and safety goals set and identified by their District assignment. This is done by supervising and promoting Loss Prevention initiatives and programs within their assigned District. It is further accomplished by developing and maintaining a strong partnership with the District, Zone and Region Triad partners. Through this partnership, the LPDM implements shortage and safety related, company-driven solutions designed to reduce losses through a combination of applications which include data analysis, audits, training programs and investigations. The LPDM will ensure that all Loss Prevention Star Visits are done consistently and objectively. Additionally the LPDM will conduct all applicable internal and external investigations. By having direct involvement with the training of DMs, Store Supervisory staffs and Associates in shortage control and safety awareness, the LPDM will help drive the company’s shortage and accident reduction goals. LPDMs will be personally involved in the on-going training and development of Door Agents and Front End Supervisors. The LPDM will ensure accurate and timely submission of all required reports and will effectively handle all other duties assigned by the Regional Loss Prevention Director.To achieve an effective partnership with Store Operations, the LPDM must develop and maintain ongoing communication and interaction with their District Managers, Zone Directors, HR Zone partners, and Store Teams through participation in meetings, conference calls and store visits. Additional partnerships will also be developed as the LPDM works with cross functional groups and departments to ensure integrated solutions that impact shortage control and accident reduction initiatives.The LPDM must be results oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer skills and they must have the highest level of personal integrity. They must be efficient in providing direction and leadership to their stores.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Achieving shortage and accident reduction goals set for their District
  • Ensuring that all LP Star Visits are conducted consistently and objectively with a focus on continuous improvement through partnership and training.
  • Assist the Regional LP Director with strict adherence to all budget guidelines established for the district, zone and region.
  • Managing all District Loss Prevention/Safety Responsibilities
    • Shortage Control and Safety Awareness
  • Internal Investigations to include leads from the Investigative Analyst role and the Corporate Alertline process
  • External Investigations as directed by the RLPD
  • Liaison with law enforcement, courts, etc.
  • Exception Reporting
  • Training of DMs, Store Supervisory Staffs and Store Associates with specific focus on Door Agents and Front End Supervisors
  • Report Writing
  • Record-keeping
  • Physical Security/Loss Prevention Systems
    • New stores, remodels, expansions
    • EAS systems
    • Store CCTV systems
    • Burglar/Fire Alarm systems

Job Requirements

  • Experience in the successful implementation of loss prevention, shortage control, accident reduction and fraud prevention programs.
  • Excellent Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assist the RLPD, Zone Operations Directors and District Managers in training Ross Store management and hourly associates through specialized meetings and ongoing awareness campaigns dealing with Shortage and Safety control measures.
  • Assist the Regional LP Director in developing and upgrading training materials and concepts for awareness training sessions.
  • Conduct confidential, detailed investigations and interviews.
  • Travel extensively
  • BA Degree or greater, preferably in Business, Criminal Justice or other related fields. Two years of directly related experience may be substituted for each year of required college.
